The core product from our custom shop is the traditional window sash, for double-hung, casement or picture windows. We can match size, thickness and sticking profiles to your original; our glass options range from standard single glazing to all varieties of insulated glass. Our shop replicates everything from basement sash to gothic sash for cathedrals. When leaded glass or specialty glass is part of a project, we work with local artisans and suppliers to carry out your complete window design requirements.
When your remodeling project calls for matching the period and construction techniques of vintage windows or doors, you can count on Versatile Sash for custom millwork. We use solid fir construction and time-tested joinery to keep water where it belongs and the product looking great for the next century. We care about traditional proportions, installation issues and long-term quality, so we build with time-tested features and techniques.
Performance and code-compliance also require the integration of top-of-the-line weather-stripping, counter-balances and other hardware. Versatile offers compression weather-stripping along with options for interlocking weather-stripping. We have the knowledge and experience to prep for mortise locks, build bi-folding door arrays and incorporate multi-point locking systems. We build custom windows in every type of operation, in-swing, out swing, pivoting or sliding.
Our decades of experience allow us to commit to faithful reproduction of great traditional doors and windows for historic restoration, whether for a single bungalow entry, the historic Simon Benson House, Timberline Lodge or Portland’s City Hall. We shape moldings or use knives from our extensive library of patterns to replicate original details of woodwork from earlier days.
Our staff prepares AutoCad drawings from site measurements for each project, to be approved by the responsible architect or contractor, prior to construction. We support historic restoration efforts throughout the region, with completed projects including the Pendleton Arts Center, Multnomah Falls Lodge, New Market Theater, and various 19th and 20th century historic residences.
